The 8th Day of the 9th Moon of the Year
I think I finally figured out what Franklin has been hiding from me. I found a piece of cloth with a patch on it. I was able to draw a sketch of it, but I know Franklin will realize it is missing so I had to return it to where I found it. It had fallen out of his coat from when we were practicing and he accidentally left it. I am going to join him tomorrow when he goes to the marketplace again. I am going to be asking if anyone recognizes this symbol. I feel like I should know it, but I do not. There are two daggers forming what almost looks like an “A” in a ragged diamond shaped outline.
I spent hours in the archive section of the library, where all archives available to the people are located, trying to see if I could figure anything out about this, but I found nothing. There are no public records of this. Its appearance is rather disturbing, but I am not sure why Franklin is so paranoid. It is likely the symbol of a thieves’ guild, which the thugs that attacked us were probably members of. But I do not understand why even just that fact would bother Franklin so much. There are thousands of thieves’ guilds and many of them go out and attack passer-bys. There has to be something specific to this guild specifically. Hopefully someone in town can help. That is who Franklin was inquiring to.
