The 5th Day of the 9th Moon of the Year

Notes on Tales of Dragons and Fairies

Chapter 5: Day Fairies

Apparently Day Fairies are only visible at dawn and dusk. Jahka theorizes it is because those times mark the beginning and the end of the day, something that probably is sacred to the Day Fairies. He thinks that they fairies come out to celebrate these times and that is why they are visible during that time. He does not speak any more about the Day Fairies. This book is turning out to be a little disappointing. Jahka seems to only be hypothesizing without much actual evidence for things. I will just have to wait to see if there are any actual tales of fairies, and maybe he knows more about dragons and for some reason wanted to talk about fairies.

The 5th Day of the 9th Moon of the Year

Franklin is willing to start using my break for fighting lessons. I feel like I am not advancing at all, but Franklin says that I am and it will take time before I can see the improvement. I am not getting as tired or sore as I used to, but maybe it is simply because I have hit the ground so many times my body is numb to it not that I am getting any better. It is nice to get away from the lessons and spend some time with Franklin. We have officially gotten approval from my father to let him stay and be my personal guard. I will say I think Franklin is taking the “personal guard” part a little too seriously. He walks me to and from lessons now. And since I had a bit of time after everything I spent some time in the library reading and he followed me there and stayed, granted he did not sit at the same table but off to the side within view but not obvious he was with me, but I know he was not trying to trick me into thinking he was not following me. Franklin is being paranoid again and I still have no idea why.
