The 27th Day of the 8th Moon of the Year

The 27th Day of the 8th Moon of the Year

My entire body hurts. Franklin is a ruthless instructor. I have had fencing lessons since I was ten, but I have never felt my muscles complain so much. I learned a lot, but I will not be able to do this every day the way I had originally hoped. I am in such bad shape that Franklin himself said we were to refrain from lessons tomorrow. This is a blessing however. I will finally be able to explore more. My standard teachings are not to start for a week; they want me to be fully rested from the journey.

I will try to read Tales of Dragons and Fairies again tomorrow; hopefully I will be able to concentrate better. I skimmed over the first chapter this morning soon after morning meal. I have grown more intrigued by it than I was before. I will also look into seeing if the library here has any of the books Gahila referenced or any books by Gahila himself.

I should go to bed now. A servant has just brought me some tea made from leaves that I have never heard of that supposedly assists in the easing of muscle pains. It has the tendency to cause drowsiness as well though, which is why they waited until night to send it to me. Franklin says he has seen men twice my size fall down, fast asleep after finishing their cup. I am not sure whether I should believe him or not. Franklin is not known for trickery, but the extremity of the circumstances as well as the smirk on his face as he spoke brings doubt to my mind. I suppose I shall see.
