Notes on Axe of Steel:

It did not go into much detail about the war. Which I am thankful for. There are only two chapters left and there still has not been a resolution! Githlum was able to leave close to the end of the war before it was fully over, alone. When he returned to the encampment he had found, they were gone. It just vanished. There was no evidence of it ever being there. Now, there is not mention of how long the war lasted before Githlum was able to return, but the stressing of no evidence leads me to believe that there was not a long amount of time.

After trekking through the tunnels, he did finally find another camp. This one was much smaller, but he noticed that there were torches around the camp which, although on fire, were not burning. He knew the spell-caster was present. Dwarves have always amazed me, he took on the entire camp by himself! It was estimated around 20 goblins. The final one he faced off with was the spell caster. He noticed that the goblin used a staff, making him believe that the goblin required a physical object, much like a sorcerer. Despite trying to just debilitate the goblin, Githlum was forced to kill the goblin.

I am really curious as to who the author of Axe of Steel really is. It seems like they know far too much to just be an author of a legend. This is not even a well-known legend. I know plenty of dwarven legends (far more than most people) and yet I have never heard of Githlum until now. Cherish is enamored with the story. She has not heard many legends outside those that pertain to Bellmora.

The 20th Day of the 12th Moon

I am so happy Cherish has seen past my economic status. She gave me a kiss on the cheek this morning. I think we are both too bashful to even think of kissing on the lips around the troupe and Franklin. I was surprised she even kissed me on the cheek! But it was wonderful.

I finally got the courage to ask where we were going. They said there is a small hamlet just past the Linola Glades that is welcoming of non-humans. They think that is probably where my mother would have taken our family. At least if she stayed within Bellmora’s borders. I do hope I find them there. I miss them so.
