Notes on Tales of Dragons and Fairies
Chapter 2: The Summer Fairies
Apparently Summer Fairies can sometimes be mistaken for fire spirits. Jahka wrote that the differences are vast with appearance being only similarity. Fire spirits typically are found in areas infected by Dark Magic, while Summer Fairies can be found anywhere. Summer Fairies are not bound to anyone or anything while Fire spirits many times are (having been summoned typically). Jahka briefly theorizes that the two are distantly related, but he does not discuss it very much.
Chapter 3: The Fall Fairies
Fall Fairies are much like Spring Fairies, but they do not glow and rarely allow themselves to be seen. They are rarely seen outside of the fall season. No one is sure exactly where they are the rest of the year, but no Fall Fairies have ever been seen during any other season.
Chapter 4: The Winter Fairies
Winter Fairies are like Fall Fairies in that they only appear during the winter. They are only light blue or white in color (both their clothing and their glow), making them difficult to see. Despite their camouflage, Winter Fairies are the second most common fairies to be seen. Jahka insists that the Spring and Winter Fairies do not necessarily outnumber the other they are just less shy. However, he has no evidence.
The 1st Day of the 9th Moon of the Year
I have not written in a while because I have just been so exhausted by the end of the day. I have spent most of the last few days in the library. There are many fascinating things there. The Chief Librarian, Akma, showed me where a section of books by Gahila where. He was glad to see I was interested in them because the books have not been looked at in years. Akma emanates a simple love of education. He does not seem to even care what it is about. Akma has taught me a lot as well, I hope I can spend several of my lessons with him.
I left the library a couple of times, but only to work on my fighting lessons with Franklin. I was horrified today when he took away my sword. I wanted to learn to fight in any way I could, but I never expected this. Franklin made a great point though. I can be the best sword fighter in the world, but if I do not have a weapon for any reason I am useless without knowing how to defend myself weaponless. It is also surprisingly difficult. The stances are so different. I am not sure why Franklin insisted on me practicing what I had already learned simply to take my weapons from me and make me learn something completely different.
